Despite the tumultuous weather New Yorkers have recently been experiencing, city-dwellers are always down to do something interesting. Whether it be a Central Park picnic, dressing to the nines for the Kentucky Derby, or venturing over to Randall’s Island for the inaugural Frieze Art Fair.
So that’s what we did, this past weekend. After a tough run through Central Park, in which I felt my soul about to escape my body, I biked all the way back downtown, home, and then back uptown, again, before crossing the Wards Island Bridge, by foot [in the rain, dare I add]. Usually, one would opt to take the ferry from Manhattan to Randall’s Island, but for some reason, it wasn’t in service yesterday, so a New Yorker’s gotta do what a New Yorker’s gotta do, and that’s to go by foot. As tempting as swimming across the East River may look to some, I was not in the mood to complete a triathlon.
Needless to say, I slept like a baby, last night, but the art was worth it.
