Hello, Bonjour, Hola, Merhaba, Ciao, Guten Tag, Jambo, Ni hau, Sannu!

Welcome to my website, A Kiwi Can Fly. This website launched in September 2015, after a much thought-out process. It was created as a hub to document my travels, as well as inform travellers, or those experiencing wanderlust, of the many wonders there are to see, in the world. My goal is to eventually launch an e-commerce store directly on this site, to offer you all the opportunity to purchase special and exclusive treasures I find on my travels, but for now, I hope you enjoy reading about my adventures.

“Travelling is the only thing you can spend money on that will make you richer.” Richer in knowledge, richer in culture, richer in life. In my 25 years, I have been fortunate to have travelled to over 12 different countries; 33 cities; and lived in three, but there are many, many, many more I am yet to visit, and I am marking each new destination with a red pin on my wall map, as I go.

The name A Kiwi Can Fly creatively derives from the endangered Kiwi bird, a flightless bird species, native to New Zealand. Since I am from New Zealand (foreigners tend to classify New Zealanders as “Kiwis”), and since I travel a lot (in 2014, I flew on 46 airplanes; so far in 2015, 23), I’ve put a cute twist to the name – A Kiwi Can Fly. To clarify – no, it has nothing to do with the fruit (as some of my colleagues thought!).

While I have travelled to literally the other side of the world, from New Zealand, residing in Manhattan, New York, has made global travel very accessible. As I visit each new city, state, or country, I will post an update on my recommendations, or interesting thoughts on travel, in general. I hope you enjoy reading about my journey, and even more so, I hope you take it upon yourself to book a spontaneous trip to a destination you read about on A Kiwi Can Fly.

Until next time, fasten your seat belt, and enjoy the ride.
